I’m an entrepreneur. It’s something that defines me. I have something inside of me that drives me to create entirely new businesses and chase after success. But there is much more to me than just that. If you want a truly happy life, you need to develop strong relationships and passionate hobbies outside of your business. Here are some things you might want to focus on:
Ok, to be honest, I hate the vast majority of stuff out there that’s said about “work-life balance.”
The reality is that balance is different for everyone. It’s up to you to figure out the optimal balance for you. But if you’re currently feeling overwhelmed at your business, there are some ways you can free up some time to spend with your family or simply enjoying your life.
Something difficult for many entrepreneurs to do is delegate. They’ve spent months, maybe even years, depending on themselves for everything. It can be challenging to let go of that level of control, but it’s super important.
Let’s take a look at one of my businesses, CBD Hemp Experts. We’ve recently opened a brand-new 97,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility. Back in the early days of this business, I was involved in every aspect, but now? It’s grown to the point where I need to trust others to help run it. If I tried to run everything myself today at CBD Hemp Experts, I wouldn’t even have time to sleep!
Please think back on your entrepreneurial journey and remember all of the people who helped you along the way. Maybe it was a teacher you had back in high school, or a family friend who had entrepreneurial experience and gave you a bit of advice. Without these people, it would have been difficult, if not impossible, to become a successful business person.
Now that you’ve reached a level of success, it’s your turn to give back and help others. Trust me; there are countless people out there with brilliant ideas, a strong entrepreneurial drive, and talent aplenty. The only problem is that they don’t know where to start. And that is where you can come in.
Keep an eye out at your organization for talent. Once you find it, cultivate it. Maybe reach out to local educational institutions to see if they would like a speaker focusing on entrepreneurship. By helping others, you’re going to be giving back. And trust me, there is no better feeling than seeing someone you’ve helped at their start succeed beyond their wildest dreams!
I’m often asked, “Where do entrepreneurs get their ideas?” Well, let me tell you, it isn’t just dumb luck that leads to the creation of a million-dollar idea!
The best entrepreneurs I know are some of the most curious people in the world. They don’t just scan the news; they absorb it. They are on the lookout for trends, downturns, new technologies, shifts in public opinion, political insights, and more. Why? It’s because they are super curious people! And all of that information they bring in spurs ideas and innovations.
Years ago, the government lumped CBD into the same category as THC. It was “pot,” and that was that. It wasn’t until I saw how CBD positively impacted those in my family who had cancer that I opened my eyes to the possibilities. I started researching everything I could get my hands on about CBD. I saw how it and hemp were on the path to legalization, and I wanted to be in on the ground floor. And that’s how CBD Hemp Experts get started! It was my curiosity about CBD that led to the business. Let your curiosity guide you in the same way!
It’s one of the trickiest parts of being an entrepreneur. You always have your nose to the grindstone, making sure that every single dollar and hour invested counts. And that’s a good thing! But I know entrepreneurs who, after reaching the success they worked toward for years, can’t enjoy it. Spending any of their hard-earned money feels like a waste or extravagance. Taking time off feels like they’re lazy. And that isn’t a healthy attitude to have.
Look, I am in no way saying that you should go out and buy the most expensive car you can once you build a million-dollar business. But you’ve worked hard and deserve to enjoy your success. There comes the point where you need to switch out of “famine” mode. Take some well-deserved time off with your family. Maybe go on a vacation! Look back on where you came from and recognize just how far you’ve come. By enjoying your success, you’re going to be giving yourself the break you need to prepare for your next business endeavor!
These are all lessons that took me years to learn, but I’m glad I did. If you learn to love your life, you’re going to be happier, which in turn will lead to more success. Trust me, you are more than just an entrepreneur!
